Lets Make A Change

Wright State has been the best experience in my life thus far. I have met many new friends and have experienced more new things in this past two months than I have in the past two years. Wright State definately has its up sides, but there also are some down sides, not many, but there are.
If I had one thing to choose to change out of all of Wright State, it would parking. Everyday when I drive up to Wright State I drive around about 10 minute just to find a parking spot. If you do not make it here early, you will be stuck parking out in the middle of no where. I usually take 10 minutes to park, then I have to walk about 15 minutes to my building where my class is. With the excess of how many students Wright State is accumulating, I feel that they should add on at least another parking lot so that students can find parking easier. Another thing is lot 20. I feel that on-campus living should get you a better parking spot than that. I have to walk 10 minutes just to get to the shuttle bus then it takes about another 5 minutes waiting on the bus to arrive and then about 5 more minutes until I get into my car. I feel that there should be spots on campus for us to park so that our cars would be more convenient to drive.
All in all, Wright State was definately the best choice of colleges for me. Everyone is extremely friendly and the activities here are a blast. I would have to say if parking is in my biggest concerns here at Wright State, then it is a very good college.

Revising and Editing

While writing my papers, I feel that they are the best of my ability and have the best choice of words possible. So up until this year I never took the time to revise and edit a paper after I had already written it. I felt that it was a waste of time and I just wanted to be done as fast as possible with it. Little did I know that after reading my work, I find many mistakes not only in grammar, but run-on sentences and word choices as well.
After actually revising one of my papers, I found my writing to be almost twice as good as the original copy was. I feel that the revising process has strengthened my writings immensely. After revising my papers, I find myself using bigger and better words to enhance my works. One other thing about the revising process that I enjoy is when we do our peer evaluations of other people’s papers. I like getting my writing critiqued by either the instructor or even other students because I only see what I think is incorrect and other people point out many other flaws in my writings that I cannot catch.
I feel that after my revision of papers, my grades will go up because my writings are more studious and they will stand out more to the reader’s eye. But there are two things that I find myself having trouble with in the revision process, and that is run on sentences and word choice. I notice after re-reading my papers that I have multiple sentences that are run on or way too lengthy. I have trouble trying to cut them down and revising them. Also I find myself looking for better word choices a lot because I will have two or three sentences in row with the same word choice.
Overall, I have nothing bad to say about the revision process because it does nothing but help out my writings. If I did not do the revision process my papers would remain with many simple mistakes that I do not pick up while I am writing the paper.

Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec

In this picture, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec is portraying a woman lying on a bed in the nude. Looking at many of Toulouse-Lautrec’s paintings, it seems very common for him to do such paintings of women.
In this picture of the woman lying naked, I think that Toulouse-Lautrec was trying to catch the eye of the male viewers. After seeing that he has painted many other paintings of females in the nude, I think that Toulouse-Lautrec is a very open minded guy and seems like he would be a supporter of the nude. Not only is this painting viewed towards the eye of males, this could be pointed towards females as well. This could being making a statement to females that it is okay to be nude and that they should be open to the fact of nudity. I think the purpose of this piece was to simply let everyone know how he felt about nudity. Though Toulouse-Lautrec feels this way, I think that in a media stand point it would be unacceptable. It is not socially acceptable to be nude to the public in this day and age.
To conclude, I feel this painting speaks volumes towards people who support nudism. Toulouse-Lautrec is a very skilled painter with many different styles of art. But out of all of them this one stood out because I thought of it as being the most outgoing one. If I were to do a painting, this is not the style I would have thought to do.

No T.V.'s?

Watching television is looked at as something that wastes people time, but also something that  people love to do in their free time. I feel that television to an extent is good for people. Depending on what they watch and how many hours a week they spend watching it, i feel that it can actually be a good thing for people.
If you are watching channels like the discovery channel or the news, I think that you can learn from those channels. If people were just sitting there watching cartoon and MTV or reality shows, then I could understand why people think it is so bad. I agree that people should be more active in today's day and age. More and more people are starting to rely on technology so much more now that is getting much More advanced. If this argument was about stuff like facebook, then i would have to agree that it is totally a waste of time. T.V. can actually teach you stuff about many things and keeps you up to date on local and worldwide news. Television can actually be a big help. T.V. send out warnings for thunderstorm and bad snowfalls to help people out before it actually comes. Also, T.V. can update you on many other things such as political campaigns and major sporting events.
All in all i feel that T.V. is not as bad as everyone puts it our to be. T.V. can actually be a big help for people, especially ones that can't do anything such as handicapped people or people who just got out of surgery or something. T.V. is one of the biggest things in today's society and will be that way for rest of our lives.
