Halloween

Halloween has always been one of my least favorite holidays. I never really got the point of the holiday or ever heard of why it even started? I just don't get the point of running around in costumes trying to look like something else. Today, especially college students go a little too far on the costumes and make them more outgoing than needed.

One of the reasons that I really don't like Halloween is trick or treating. When I was a little kid I was very scared of all of the older people that dressed up to scare everyone. I would always make my mom/dad go up to the door and grab the candy for me and I would stand on the sidewalk with the other one if someone was dressed up too scary. When i was growing up, i absolutely hated horror movies and my brothers would rent them all the time and make me watch them to make me even more scared. My most hated movie was, Scream. Whenever I would go trick or treating and see someone dressed up as the murder character from scream I would start crying and always would instantly want to go home and be done trick or treating for the night. Also, I am very picky on the type of candy I like and will eat. Every time I went trick or treating, it would seem like every house I went to passed out the candy that I thought was gross.

Overall, I just really do not see a need for the holiday of Halloween. I just see it now as giving another reason to have a huge party and dress up all scandalous. If there was one holiday that i could take out of the calendar, it would definitely be Halloween.

  1. wow, nate. interesting story. i understand why you are not too big on halloween. i'm not a huge fan either, but that's because i was not allowed to trick or treat as a kid.
